What's so amazing about Grace part 1

Currently I'm reading this book. I'm so stunned and impressed with the word choices of Philip Yancey. He's one of my favourite authors... Here's some of interesting quotes, definition about 'grace'. 

1. A parable of grace: a gift that costs everything for the giver and nothing for the recipient.

2. Grace comes from outside, as a gift and not an achievement.

3. Grace comes free of charge to people who do not deserve it.

4. Grace does not depend on what we have done for God but rather what God has done for us.

5. God dispenses gifts, not wages. None of us gets paid according to merit, for none of us comes close to satisfying God's requirement for a perfect life. If paid on the basis of fairness, we would all end up in hell.

6. Grace is free only because the giver himself has borne the cost.

7. Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us more. Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us less. Grace means that God already loves us as much as an infinite God can possibly love.

8. Ungrace causes cracks between family, close friend. All we need is forgiveness.
